Advanced Placement

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program offers high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses while attending grades 9-12. AP courses are invariably more rigorous than other high school offerings.

  • By passing the College Board subject-specific AP test with a proficient score, students may earn college credit or advanced standing when they enter post-secondary studies.
  • Students should be proficient in their ability to problem-solve, draw comparisons, analyze and reason, and have clear writing skills that support independent progress and perceptive thinking.
  • In order to qualify for the opportunity to take Advanced Placement courses, student should.....
    • work with their high school counselor to put together a college-ready pathway in their SEOP
    • be proficient and academically successful in the applicable subjects
    • plan to complete the required courses for graduation in proper scope and sequence
